The most precious possession people have is their health. More and more are paying attention to eating healthier and exercising regularly.

To strengthen vitality and immune defenses, many people also visit a sauna. This is because it is known for its numerous health benefits.

However, it is often not feasible timewise to go to a public sauna.
To avoid the stress in overcrowded sauna oases as well as travel and admission costs, many people are now building their own home sauna.

But now one asks, what does a sauna session at home cost me?

First, two important factors must be mentioned that significantly influence the final result of the following calculation example:

The location, construction, and insulation thickness of the sauna cabin play a superordinate role in energy consumption.
The stronger the walls and insulation are, and the less glass is installed in the cabin, the longer the heat stays in the cabin, and the sauna heater needs to expend less energy to maintain the temperature.

However, it is important to note that the sauna heater only heats 100% across all phases during the heating-up time until the desired target temperature is reached. After that, depending on usage and fluctuation in the sauna cabin, the sauna heater is switched on between 60 - 70%. Thus, the consumption mentioned below will be lower.

Let's take the following example:

• 9 kW sauna heater (400 V high-voltage current)
• The sauna takes approx. 30 - 45 min to heat up
• Subsequently, the sauna is used for three sauna sessions of 15 minutes each and two rest phases of 15 minutes each.
• Total duration of sauna use: 2 hours.
• The electricity provider's tariff in €/kWh - 0.30 €

Formula: Cost per sauna session = Price KWh x Heater output x total heating time
Calculation example: 0.30 €/KWh x 7.5 KW x 2 h (120 Min.) = 4.5 € per sauna session

By observing the above-mentioned points, consumption can and will be significantly influenced and somewhat reduced.
